GUARDIANSHIP
A guardianship is established by the Court to assist your loved one with mental and/or physical limitations with making decisions due to any of the following circumstances:
1. A special needs child with disabilities who is turning 18;
2. An elderly parent or relative with Alzheimer’s disease or
Dementia or a mental or physical condition that may prevent
them from caring for themselves or to make their own
decisions;
3. A minor without a competent parent.
The first step in obtaining Guardianship of an individual will be for the court to appoint a guardian with either full or limited authority over the incapacitated person. An incapacitated person is a minor or adult who because of a physical or mental condition is substantially unable to provide food, clothing or shelter for himself or herself or care for their physical health and/or manage their own financial affairs.
We will provide you with the necessary counsel regarding your
circumstances and assist with legal representation before the
Court with jurisdiction over your loved one.
